I came today to a place so steeped in history and spirituality that I felt the same ecstasy of those who had walked it nigh on three thousand years ago. In fact the Sybil’s cave is more than magical: it is real. The tunnel to the underworld is no relic of the past as the innumerable ruins have been. The air within is thick with the dreadful and glorious haze of the unknown, that which lies in waiting behind the cyclopean wall. At the end of that foreboding tunnel older than time itself, the myths I had read since boyhood became real.
