The Market--by Abby

We had a later start on Tuesday and our mission for the morning was to buy some lunch foods for later. Entering into the market I had no idea what to expect, but it was clear this was not one of the grocery stores I was accustomed to in the states. Everything was outside and there were a bunch of different stands spread out selling different items. Raw fish, bread, meat, cheese, lots of fruit, and of course some pizza. The best part of this adventure in my opinion was watching everyone figure how they are going to get what they want. At first everyone roamed the area just trying to scope the place out. A popular buy was "la mela!" (apple) and some tangerines. The real struggle was finding a main dish. Luckily, the girls found a little shop that made incredible sandwiches. The boys on the other hand were about to buy 1kg of cheese and meat and huge baguettes for 45€ total. Luckily for them someone stopped them and brought the group to the sandwich place. It was awesome to really get the chance to utilize the Italian we've been learning for the past couple months and interact with some of the local people. When we ate lunch later it was clear that the sandwiches were a great choice.
